Something Smelled Funny in Connah’s Quay
No, not that smell. The galaxy was burning.
Hot Dice Games just hosted its first-ever Horus Heresy tournament at Connah’s Quay Social Club — three games of 3rd Edition carnage, 2500 points a side, Loyalists vs Traitors in a narrative throwdown that actually made people nice to each other.
Tournament boss Seb Jones ran it like a true Primarch, herding hobbyists into two factions – Loyalists vs Traitors, and created an incredibly friendly and exciting atmosphere for people from all over to roll dice together. Free coffee and tea helped. So did the beautiful venue, which proved surprisingly fitting for imaginary Titanic battles.
The Winners

Loyalists carried the day after three challenging rounds, with the below individual awards earn y top generals, painters, and sportsmen.
- Joshua Townley: Hero of The Imperium (best loyalist general) and Coolest Dude (voted most sporting). Yes, that’s two trophies. Show-off.
- Adam Studdart: Champion of The Warmaster (Best traitor general). The darkness rewards ambition, apparently.
- Jo Gardner: Best Army (coolest and best painted!). The people have spoken, and they like pretty models.
- Alan Wagstaff: The Wooden Spoon (the most selfless collector of points), for “they who hath had an absolute nightmare.” Better luck next time, mate.

Everyone agreed Seb smashed it. Veterans taught newcomers the ropes. Friendships formed. Dice were rolled. The Emperor wept, but only because he wasn’t invited.
Hot Dice has officially planted its flag in North Wales’ Heresy scene. For the Emperor (or the warmaster)— and for the next one.

Got a Horus Heresy army gathering dust? The Warmaster — and Seb Jones — would like a word.
